Tom Grito (he/they) is a queer poet and artist—an inventor of words, a combiner of letters, and an incendiary of discourse. A researcher of inescapable utopias and ancestral technologies, they also curate spaces for holding and healing the wounds of gender-based violence. They dedicate themselves to socio-political micro-revolutions where poetry incinerates, soothes, affects, and transforms. A pioneer of the Rio de Janeiro poetry slam scene (2013), they are the co-founder and manager of Slam das Minas RJ (@slamdasminasrj, 2017) and Trans Slam (@trans_slam, 2023). They work as a Diversity and Inclusion consultant through the @banheirospossiveis project. A non-binary trans person with a multidisciplinary background in theater, cinema, and physical education, they operate at the intersection of literature, education, curation, the body, gender, and culture, with a particular focus on oral traditions and spoken word poetry. They are the author of the books Antes que seja tarde para se falar de poesia (2023) and Eu sei como sair vivo disso (2023), both published by Editora Malê.
