Long-term residency

CAPACETE is a center for artistic thought and processes. In addition to a multipurpose space for exhibitions and public talks, we offer accommodations for artists in residence. Each year, we host an average of fifteen residents, including artists, curators, writers, filmmakers, journalists, and cultural agents from Brazil and abroad. Over a period of two to three months, participants have the opportunity to discuss, reflect, and question contemporary ethical and aesthetic practices, promoting encounters that articulate theoretical knowledge with the experiences, memories, and affections of each participant. In the end, concrete strategies may emerge in the face of the shifting art system.

Four practical axes unfold within the program:

  1. Immersion: closed meetings with individual and group tutorials;
  2. Visits to exhibitions, collections, and artists’ studios;
  3. Sharing moments: public talks with guest speakers;
  4. Self-management: planning and holding events with the group’s experiments.

The call for CAPACETE 2027 residents will be launched soon!
