Bárbara Santos (Colombia) is a visual artist and independent researcher. Her work focuses on making transformation processes visible through the intersection of art and technology, grounded in ancestral knowledge from the Amazon. She has extensive field experience in the Amazon rainforest—specifically the Vaupés and Putumayo regions of Colombia—dating back to 2005. She is the author of the book La curación como Tecnología (Healing as Technology; IDARTES, 2019) and co-editor of O território dos Jaguares Yurupari (The Territory of the Yurupari Jaguars; ACAIPI-GAIA, 2015) and the interactive book Mães Sementes (Seed Mothers; ACAIPI, 2024 – supported by the Prince Claus Fund, CLUA, and Swift Fund). She collaborated on the creation of the “Map of Muisca Sacred Sites” (Bogotá City Planning Department and Muisca Councils) and led the research and virtual exhibition Bosquesinas/Campesinas: Peace Process (DEVIDO, 2020). Her long-term collaborative projects aim to question traditional structures and contemporary art formats by fostering aesthetic ruptures that emerge from the encounter of complex cultures.
