
Marwa Benhalim is a Libyan-Egyptian artist, curator, and researcher based in Cairo. She is the co-founder and co-director of the Cairo Art Book Fair, an annual art book fair and traveling selection. She is the founder and lead editor of Ta3amana Publishing, a research-based publishing initiative that engages food and culinary systems as critical entry points into questions of cultural production, gender, labor, and alternative socio-political practices. She runs Switchboard Project, which houses the Sekoun Art Residency Program and facilitates ongoing public programs, including monthly gatherings dedicated to critical dialogue and exchange. In 2024, she curated “Does a River Shape a Table?” at the Grand Egyptian Museum, an exhibition examining the historical and contemporary conditions of agricultural practices in Egypt.
Benhalim holds an Alternative MA in Food & Art from The Gramounce (Spain), an MFA in Studio Art from Southern Methodist University (USA), and a BA in Visual Arts from The American University in Cairo.
